BHADRA

The clients wanted an immersive experience with industrial inspired minimal design. Even with minimalism, the structure and surrrounding should soak in a luxurious and naturally rich feeling. Minimalism symbiotic with nature and luxury.
Nestled within an expansive 11-acre coffee plantation, Bhadra is a testament to architectural ingenuity and sustainable design derived from the bhadra flower of western ghats. Similar to the two winged petals, central core and the growth in rich flora, the design ethos and planning of Bhadra revolves around dual wing planning, centralised services and an immersive connection with nature surrounding the structure.
With the basic 2 winged planning, we carefully matched materials that would not be harsh in their natural surroundings because the design has to be modest. The use of glass for walls and polished concrete for the building improved our perception of a modest intervention in the surrounding greenery. In order to create a sense of surprise, the access to the property have been given from the sideways and the access to the stream in front. The living spaces were placed down and is semi permeable in nature with a more enclosed bedrooms on upper level. The structure was thoughtfully placed in the 10 acre plot where land, water, and greenery joins together, and with minimal topographic alteration. The entire project is stilt supported. Eco-conscious materials were chosen, such as Karnataka grey cera granite, regional bricks, and used railroad track wood for the stairs to add to better build practices.
